WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Whitman Insurance Co. has filed a declaratory action seeking a determination that it has no obligation to pay its' insureds legal liabilities for the investigation and defense of asbestos-related lawsuits. Whitman Insurance Co. v. Travelers Indemnity Co., et al., No. n/a (D. D.C.).

The complaint, filed June 7 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia also seeks the application of decisions made in a prior case related to insurance matters in asbestos defendant Abex Corporation's underlying asbestos liabilities.
