Texas MDL Judge Set to Hear Chrysotile Admissibility Debate

DALLAS -- The judge overseeing the Texas state court asbestos MDL will hear arguments relating to the admissibility of testimony indicating that uncontaminated chrysotile can cause mesothelioma, sources told HarrisMartin Publishing. In Re: Asbestos Litigation, 2004-03964 (Texas Dist. Ct., Harris Cty.).
The hearings will take place June 1-3 before Judge Mark Davidson in the Texas District Court for Harris County, sources said.
In Georgia-Pacific's motion to exclude such general causation testimony, the defendant claims that there is insufficient scientific evidence indicating that chrysotile that is not contaminated with amphibole asbestos can cause mesothelioma.
