Jury Returns $2.25 Million Verdict In Asbestos Case Against Caterpillar

SAN FRANCISCO -- A jury has awarded nearly $2.25 million in a living mesothelioma lawsuit in which the plaintiff alleged combined exposure from time in the U.S. Navy and while operating Caterpillar bulldozers. Johnson, et al. v. Caterpillar, et al., No. 432923 (Calif. Super. Ct., San Francisco Cty.).
In a March 16 verdict in the California Superior Court for San Francisco County, jurors assessed Caterpillar, the only defendant remaining at trial, five percent of the damages, sources said. The jury awarded $995,000 in economic damages and $1 million in non-economic damages to plaintiff Daniel Johnson, in addition to awarding $250,000 …
