Jury Finds for Vessel Defendants in Mesothelioma Trial

OAKLAND, Calif. -- A jury has found for defendants in a mesothelioma lawsuit, in which the plaintiff claimed the vessels on which he worked were unseaworthy due to presence of asbestos. Carter, et al. v. ACandS, Inc., No. 2001-031879 (Calif. Super. Ct., Alameda Cty.).
In a Jan. 5 verdict in the California Superior Court for Alameda County, jurors found that defendant National Bulk Carriers Inc. and the merican Hawaiian Steamship Co. were not liable for the plaintiff's alleged injuries.
