Jury Returns $11 Million Compensatory Damages Verdict in Asbestos Case

SAN FRANCISCO -- A California jury has awarded more than $11 million to an asbestos plaintiff and his wife at the conclusion of the compensatory damages phase of a trial against Union Carbide Corp. Clinton, et al. v. A.W. Chesterton, et al., No. 433284 (Calif. Super. Ct., San Francisco Cty.).

According to sources, San Francisco Superior Court jurors on March 4 awarded plaintiff Bob Clinton nearly $10.2 million and assessed 42 percent of the damages to Union Carbide, the only defendant remaining in the case when it went to trial.
