Summary: By studying the response of the p53 protein when exposed to crocidolite asbestos in A-549 lungs, the authors of the study found support for their hypothesis that increased apoptotic, or natural cell death, activity, induced by crocidolite asbestos, is actually mediated by the p53 protein.
