PHILADELPHIA - New Jersey's Workers' Compensation statute bars the family of a former worker at Garlock Sealing Technologies from suing the company for injuries developed as a result of her exposure to asbestos, a federal judge in Pennsylvania has ruled. Hutchinson v. A.P. Green Industries, Inc., et al., No. 90-5620 (E.D. Pa.).
In a decision issued Aug. 30, Judge Robert F. Kelly of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania memorialized a ruling he issued from the bench earlier in the month that awarded Garlock summary judgment on intentional tort claims filed against the company.
