Naval Worker Awarded More than $4 Million for Mesothelioma Claim

LOS ANGELES - A Naval officer who developed mesothelioma after working around asbestos-containing gaskets for four years has been awarded more than $4 million by a Los Angeles jury. Lane v. Flexitallic, Inc., No. BC224881 (Calif. Super. Ct., Los Angeles Cty.).
The Los Angeles County jury awarded Calvin Lane $963,171 in economic damages and $2.5 million in non-economic damages following a June trial before Judge Ralph W. Dau.
Lane's wife, Alicia, was awarded $750,000 in non-economic damages. Flexitallic Inc. was the lone defendant remaining in the case at trial.
