New York Jury Awards Asbestos Plaintiffs $22 Million

NEW YORK -- A jury has awarded two plaintiffs a combined $22 million in damages after finding defendant John Crane Inc. entirely liable for injuries sustained by two plaintiffs alleging mesothelioma from asbestos exposure. Mayer v. A.O. Smith, et al., No. 03/106231; Marshall v. ACandS, Inc., et al., No. 02/119369 (N.Y. Sup. Ct.).
The verdict was reached Aug. 3 after three weeks of trial before Judge Paula Omansky of the New York County Supreme Court. John Crane was the lone defendant remaining at trial.
