Premises Defendant Sues Insurers Over Asbestos Lawsuit Costs

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - An energy provider named in thousands of lawsuits alleging exposure to asbestos on the company's premises has filed a declaratory judgment and breach of contract action in federal court against several of its insurers. Duke Energy Corporation v. AGE DE 1830 Comp Belge/AG Belge, et al., No. 04-299 (W.D. N.C.).

In a lawsuit filed June 24 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina, Duke Energy Corporation, claims that dozens of the company's London Market Insurers have refused to cover costs associated with the underlying asbestos suits.
