Talks Aimed at Resolving Differences over Asbestos Bill Break Down

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Talks aimed at resolving outstanding issues related to proposed legislation that would create a multi-billion dollar trust fund to compensate victims of asbestos exposure have reportedly broken down, numerous sources reported Friday.
Citing sources close to the discussions, several reports indicated that a two-week long, closed-door mediation among chief stakeholders concluded Thursday evening without an agreement. The talks, which began immediately after the U.S. Senate defeated a cloture motion that would have limited debate on the measure and brought it to a vote, were spearheaded by U.S. 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Edward R. Becker.
