Jury Awards $3.5 Million to Deceased Pipefitter's Family

EL PASO, Texas - Texas jury has awarded more than $3.5 million to the family of a Texas man who died from mesothelioma, allegedly caused by his exposure to asbestos-containing products manufactured by Garlock Inc. Gilcrease v. Garlock Inc., et al., No. 2001-3623 (Texas Dist. Ct., El Paso Cty.).
The El Paso County District Court jury deliberated a full day before returning the $3.54 million verdict April 26 in favor of the surviving heirs of Fred Gilcrease.
