Researchers Identify Evidence of Genetic Basis for Mesothelioma

icAendic team of doctors who for more than two years studied a region in Turkey where nearly half of all deaths are attributed to mesothelioma have identified what they believe is a genetic basis for the disease.
In an article that appeared in the February issue of The Lancet, the researchers, led by Dr. Michele Carbone of Loyola University Chicago, concluded that genetics likely play a role in the mesothelioma rates of two Turkish villages, where the rare tumor is blamed for fifty percent of deaths among men and women.
