DALLAS - An asbestos defendant has sued several domestic and foreign insurers that have indicated they will no longer reimburse the company for asbestos claims that fail to satisfy new medical requirements recently adopted as prerequisites for coverage. Dresser Industries, Inc. v. Underwriters at Lloyd's, No. 01-6540-K (Texas Dist., Dallas Cty.).
The complaint, filed Aug. 10 by Dresser Industries, Inc., alleges that Equitas and others have breached certain coverage agreements by saying they will reject any claims that do not meet the new series of standards, which went into effect a few months ago.
