Thousands of Backlogged AC&S Cases Settled in Baltimore
March 1, 2001
BALTIMORE - A backlog of nearly 6,800 asbestos cases pending in Baltimore Circuit Court has been cleared by a confidential settlement reportedly entered into with insulation contractor AC&S.
The agreement, which complements a 2,000-case settlement in July, is a huge step toward clearing the thousands of claims filed in state court in Baltimore that have been pending for nearly a decade.
According to court officials, another 10,000 cases have been put on an inactive docket, which includes claims by those who have not yet developed asbestos-related diseases, but have shown respiratory irregularities.
