Pa. Jury Rejects Plaintiff's Asbestosis Claims, Finds for Defendants




PHILADELPHIA -- A Philadelphia jury has found for asbestos defendants Dana Corp. and Honeywell Inc., rejecting claims that the companies contributed to the development of an auto mechanic's claim of asbestosis. Swaringen, et al. v. Dana Corp., et al., February Term 2003, No. 1667 (Pa. Ct. Comm. Pls., Philadelphia Cty.).

The Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas jury entered the verdict Feb. 9 after a four-day trial before Judge Matthew Carrafiello. The case was tried with Scott (March 2003, No. 1914), which also ended in a defense verdict. See related story in this issue.
