Class Action Asserts W.R. Grace Hid Attic Insulation Dangers

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - A class action suit alleging a link between vermiculite and cancer-causing asbestos has been filed in Illinois state court against insulation manufacturing giant W.R. Grace & Co. Daily v. W.R. Grace & Co., No. 00-L656 (Ill. Cir. Ct., Madison Cty.).

The suit involves potentially hundreds of thousands of residents in Illinois and Missouri who own houses insulated with W.R. Grace's Zonolite Attic Insulation, marking the beginning of what could become a flood of consumer lawsuits against insulation manufacturers. Already, several similar complaints have been filed in state and federal courts around the country.
