California Supreme Court Won't Review Chrysotile-Negligent Packaging Verdict

SAN FRANCISCO - The California Supreme Court has refused to review a recent unpublished state appeals court ruling that affirmed a nearly $3 million award to a man who developed mesothelioma as a result of an asbestos mining company's failure to properly package its chrysotile product. Haas v. Calaveras Asbestos, LTD., No. S098107 (Calif. Sup. Ct.).
In a decision issued July 11 without an opinion, the state high court said it would not review the First District Court of Appeal decision, which it issued on April 25.
