Trial Involving Alleged SV40-Related Brain Tumor Pushed to 2002




LOS ANGELES - The trial involving the alleged SV40-related death of a two-year-old California boy who developed a rare type of brain tumor and died after receiving a dose of oral polio vaccine has been rescheduled for early next year.

By order issued June 13, Judge William J. Rea of the U.S. District Court of the Central District of California, rescheduled the trial for March 9, 2002. The trial had originally been slated for Sept. 11.

The lawsuit claims that Alexander Horwin developed medullablastoma and died after allegedly receiving an SV40-contaminated oral polio vaccine. An autopsy confirmed that Horwin was …
