Discovery Requests for John Crane Product Information Too Broad, Court Finds

HOUSTON - A Court of Appeals in Texas granted a writ of mandamus filed by a gasket and sealing manufacturer after it argued that some of the plaintiff's requests for production of records and interrogatories were over-broad and too costly. In Re: John Crane Inc., No. 01-03-00698-CV (Texas App. Ct., First Dist.).
In a decision issued Nov. 13, the First District Court of Appeals ruled that a lower court abused its discretion when it entered an order compelling discovery related to three specific requests for information about John Crane Inc.'s asbestos-containing products
