Defense Verdict Issued in Virginia Brake Shoe Mesothelioma Case




NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - A trial held to determine whether a Chrysler auto mechanic contracted mesothelioma as a result of on-the-job exposure to asbestos has ended in a finding for the defense in Newport News, Va. King v. Allied Signal, No. 24242C-03, (Va. Cir. Ct., Newport News Cty.).

A jury took about an hour and a half to determine that Allied Signal and Chrysler had adequately warned William King that he might be exposed to asbestos while working with asbestos-containing brake shoes and, therefore, had not breached its implied warranty and could not be held negligent for his death.
