Jury Awards $17.5 Million to Five Plaintiffs in New York

NEW YORK - Five plaintiffs in a case consolidated for trial in New York Supreme Court have been awarded more than $17 million for their alleged exposure to asbestos. Barbara Jones, et al. v. Amchem, et al., Nos. 104405-00, 107395-00, 105261-00, 103414-00, 102548-00 (N.Y. Sup. Ct., New York Cty.).
In a verdict handed down Jan. 11 in New York County Supreme Court, the families of the five plaintiffs, which all died after contracting mesothelioma, were awarded pain and suffering and loss of consortium damages ranging from $750,000 to $3 million.
