Panel Enters Transfer Order in Silica Cases,
Creates MDL 1553

WASHINGTON, D.C. - An order has been entered transferring dozens of silica cases removed from state court in Mississippi to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. In Re: Silica Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 1553 (JPML).

The order effectively creates Silica Products Liability MDL No. 1553, which will be overseen by District Court Judge Janice Graham Jack. Defendants had sought to have the removed cases, all of which were filed in Mississippi, transferred either to the Northern or Southern District of Mississippi.
