Jury Finds for Supplier Union Carbide in Georgia-Pacific Drywall Case

MIAMI - A jury in Florida has awarded a verdict to Union Carbide in an asbestosis case filed by a former drywaller who claimed he got sick after years of exposure to products that contained asbestos supplied by the company. Fernandez v. ACandS, Inc., et al., No. 02-21136 (Fla. Cir. Ct., Miami-Dade Cty.).
The Miami-Dade County Circuit Court jury handed up the verdict on Sept. 19 after a two-week trial.
According to sources, Plaintiff Joe Fernandez sued Union Carbide and several other defendants, alleging that he developed asbestosis as a result of his exposure to Georgia-Pacific joint compound. The …
