EL PASO, Texas - A jury in El Paso, Texas, has awarded $18 million to an insulator who was exposed to asbestos allegedly during his 40-year career at Phelps Dodge Copper Products. Calderon v. Quigley, No. 2000-1703 (Texas Dist. Ct., El Paso Cty.).
The verdict was entered Feb. 21 in El Paso County District Court, after five hours of deliberation that determined that Miguel Agustin Calderon had contracted asbestosis as a result of his exposure to an asbestos-containing product manufactured by Pfizer subsidiary Quigley Co., Inc.
