Court Upholds Causation Testimony, $115,000 Verdict

PHILADELPHIA - The Pennsylvania Superior Court has upheld a more than $100,000 verdict awarded to a former rail worker who developed pleural thickening after alleged exposure to asbestos wiring. Williams v. The Okonite Co., et al., No. 651 EDA 2001 (Pa. Super. Ct.).
In an opinion released Feb. 7, the court said that expert testimony rendered on behalf of James Williams was sufficient to show that his brief exposure to asbestos was a substantial contributing factor to his condition.
