Talcum Powder Plaintiffs Support $2.1 Billion Judgment in Brief Filed with U.S. Supreme Court

WASHINGTON, D.C. –– Plaintiffs defending a $2.1 billion talcum powder judgment have filed a brief with the U.S. Supreme Court, contesting the defendants’ position that a Missouri trial court wrongfully consolidated more than 20 plaintiffs’ claims for trial and that the punitive damage award was excessive.

In a brief filed April 19 in the U.S. Supreme Court, the plaintiffs reminded the nation’s highest court that the defendants knew “for decades” that their talcum powder contained asbestos and could have protected customers by switching from talc to cornstarch, a move proposed by their own scientists in 1973.
