SAN FRANCISCO - A state court jury has found one of two defendants in an asbestos trial negligent for causing a man's asbestos-related kidney cancer. Andrews v. Asbestos Defendants, No. 313263 (Calif. Super. Ct., San Francisco Cty.).
However, the San Francisco jury determined that the defendant's negligence was not a cause of plaintiff Thomas Andrews' disease. Andrews alleged in a case filed against dozens of defendants that he was occupationally exposed to asbestos and later developed kidney cancer as a result of the exposure, sources told HarrisMartin Publishing.
