Jury Awards $5 Million in Asbestos Lung Cancer Case

SAN FRANCISCO - A jury in California has awarded more than $5 million to a retired Naval officer who alleged that he developed terminal lung cancer as a result of his exposure to asbestos. Jones v. Asbestos Defendants, No. 407782 (Calif. Super. Ct., San Francisco Cty.).
The San Francisco Superior Court jury on Aug. 1 awarded Edward Jones and his wife $5.048 million, after a month-long trial before Judge Rober L. Dondero. Defendants John Crane, Inc., and Leslie Controls, Inc., were found liable for causing Jones' alleged injuries, sources said.
