N.Y. Court Rejects Challenges to Liability Finding in Asbestos Talc Verdict Totaling $325 Million, Plaintiffs Stipulate to Reduced Damages

NEW YORK –– A New York trial court has rejected Johnson & Johnson’s challenges to a $325 million verdict in an asbestos cosmetic talcum powder trial, finding that the verdict was supported by the evidence but concluding that the verdict was excessive and ordering a new trial on damages unless the plaintiffs stipulated to a reduced award.

In a Nov. 12 stipulation filed in the New York Supreme Court for New York County, the plaintiffs stipulated to the reduction of damages to $120 million.
