$2 Million Awarded to Contractor Exposed to Joint Compound

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - A Texas jury has awarded $2 million to a contractor who claimed he is suffering from asbestosis as a result of his exposure to asbestos-containing joint compound. Pace v. The Synkoloid Co., No. 99-4393-C (Texas Dist. Ct., 94th Dist., Nueces Cty.).
The Nueces County District Court jury on Feb. 22 awarded the damages to John Henry Pace, a self-employed contractor who was allegedly exposed to the Synkoloid Co. product during the 1960s and 1970s while working in New Jersey.
