$2.3 Million Judgment to Ill. Widow Affirmed
July 26, 2006
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - An Illinois appellate court has affirmed a $2.3 million verdict to the widow of a man who died of mesothelioma after working as a plumber-pipefitter for 39 years. Nolan v. Weil-McLain. No. 4-05-0328 (Ill. 4th Dist. App. Ct.).
Illinois' 4th District Appellate Court Justices John T. McCullough and Sue E. Myerscough affirmed the verdict on June 27, finding that plaintiff Sally Nolan had sufficiently presented evidence at trial that her husband, Clarence Nolan, was exposed to defendants' asbestos-containing products and that the exposure was a substantial factor in causing his injuries and resulting death.
