INDIANAPOLIS - A state court jury has awarded more than $15 million in damages against a contractor whose asbestos work allegedly caused a former Indiana pipefitter to develop mesothelioma. Bowers v. AC&S, Inc., et al., No. 49D02-9601-MI-0001-711 (Ind. Super. Ct., Marion Cty.).
The Marion County Superior Court jury handed up the verdict June 2 to Bobby Bowers and his wife, Paula, in what is reportedly the first such award ever against a contractor in an Indiana asbestos case.
