A.P. Green, Harbison-Walker File for Chapter 11

PITTSBURGH - Asbestos defendants A.P. Green Industries Inc. and Harbison-Walker Refractories Co., along with several of their subsidiaries, have filed for reorganization under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code. In Re: A.P. Green Industries, Inc., No. 02-21639; In Re: Harbison-Walker Refractories Co., No. 02-21627 (W.D. Pa. Bankr.).

The companies filed their petitions Feb. 14 in U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, becoming the latest in a rash of recent asbestos-related Chapter 11 filings.
