Wash. Court Awards Summary Judgment to Weir Valves & Controls in Asbestos Case

TACOMA, Wash. –– A Washington federal court has awarded summary judgment to Weir Valves & Controls USA Inc., finding that the plaintiff didn’t present admissible evidence linking his illness to the product manufactured by the defendant.

In a May 13 order, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington concluded that “crucially, plaintiffs have not offered admissible evidence showing, even viewed in a light most favorable to Plaintiffs, that Weir Valves or products that it manufactured caused, or were a substantial factor that caused, [the plaintiff’s] mesothelioma.”
