Jury Awards Damages Against Owens-Illinois in Maryland Meso Case

BALTIMORE - A Maryland jury has awarded more than $6 million to the widow of a man who developed mesothelioma and died nearly 50 years after spending just one month working around Owens-Illinois' asbestos-containing Kaylo product. Hunter v. ACandS, Inc., et al., No. n/a (Md. Cir. Ct., Baltimore Cty.).
The Baltimore City Circuit Court jury awarded the verdict on April 3, after it found Owens-Illinois responsible for the asbestos exposure and death of Harry Hunter. The jury also awarded damages to Hunter's surviving spouse, who had sought damages for loss of consortium.
