Md. Court Affirms Holding that John Crane Didn’t Owe Duty in Secondary, Household Exposure Asbestos Suit

ANNAPOLIS, Md. –– A Maryland appellate court has affirmed a holding that John Crane did not owe a duty to warn the wife of a former maintenance worker that handled the company’s asbestos-containing rope product, opining that “it would not have been feasible for [the defendant] to directly warn decedent.”

In the Nov. 2 opinion, the Maryland Court of Special Appeals further held that John Crane had no relationship with the decedent and a duty does not exist solely because John Crane could have warned the decedent’s husband.
