NEW YORK — A New York jury has awarded a plaintiff $40.1 million, finding his exposure to asbestos in gaskets made by Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. caused him to develop mesothelioma.
In an Aug. 7 verdict, the jury, sitting in the New York County Supreme Court, found the plaintiff, Walter Twidwell, was exposed to airborne asbestos released from Durabla gasket material manufactured by Goodyear and that Goodyear knew, or should have known, that its product was unreasonably dangerous.
The jury further found that Goodyear negligently failed to warn users that its Durabla gasket material posed an asbestos exposure risk. …
