JPML Had Rejected Inclusion of Asbestos Cosmetic Talc Action in MDL Proceedings for Ovarian Cancer Claims




NEW ORLEANS –– Prior to a Louisiana federal court order remanding an asbestos cosmetic talcum powder case last month, the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation had rejected inclusion of the asbestos-related lawsuit in the national multidistrict litigation docket for talcum powder claims involving ovarian cancer, sources told HarrisMartin.

In a docket entry from March, the JPML noted that the “Clerk of the Panel has determined the listed action is not appropriate for inclusion in this MDL.” In May, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana found the case was not properly before it either, rejecting Johnson …
