Calif. Jury Awards $21.7 Million to Plaintiff at Conclusion of Asbestos Cosmetic Talc Case Against J&J

LOS ANGELES –– A California jury has awarded $21.7 million at the conclusion of the first phase of an asbestos cosmetic talcum powder trial against Johnson & Johnson.
The California Superior Court for Los Angeles County jury reached the verdict on May 23. The jury will now hear arguments relating to a second, punitive damages, phase of the trial.
Johnson & Johnson was allocated 67 percent fault by jurors, sources told HarrisMartin. Johnson & Johnson was the lone defendant at the time of the verdict, sources added.
