Asbestos Talcum Powder Trial Underway in South Carolina Against J&J, Imerys, Rite Aid

DARLINGTON, S.C. –– Trial has begun in a talcum powder mesothelioma case in South Carolina, the fourth such case to proceed to trial and just weeks after a New Jersey jury awarded a plaintiff $117 million in a case asserting similar claims.

Judge Jean Toal is presiding over the trial, which is taking place in the South Carolina 4th Judicial Circuit Court for Darlington County.

Opening arguments began on May 14; the defendants involved in the trial include Johnson & Johnson, Imerys Talc America and Rite Aid of South Carolina.
