Texas Asbestos Bill Mirrors Federal Legislative Proposal for Minimal Medical Criteria

photo-3AUSTIN, Texas - Bills have been introduced in the Texas Legislature that would tighten restrictions on what types of asbestos claims can be filed in the state.
Senate Bill 496, An Act Relating to Civil Claims Involving Exposure to Asbestos and to Certain Successor Liability (See Page 37) was introduced Feb. 14 by Republican State Senator Kyle Janek. A sister bill, HB 1240, was introduced in the state House of Representatives on Feb. 27. Both have been referred to their respective committees on State Affairs.
