Ford Motor Files Appellate Brief Supporting Order Tossing $11 Million Asbestos Verdict

ALBANY, N.Y. –– Ford Motor has filed its brief with the New York Court of Appeals in support of an intermediate appellate court order tossing an $11 million asbestos verdict, maintaining that the court’s decision was proper since the plaintiffs’ expert causation testimony did not satisfy dosage quantification requirements.

In a Dec. 6 brief filed in the New York Court of Appeals, Ford Motor urged the state high court to affirm the lower court’s findings, saying that the “overwhelming majority of the applicable epidemiological studies show that vehicle mechanics do not face an increased risk of contracting mesothelioma.”
