Minnesota Federal Court Dismisses Asbestos Case, Says It Lacked Jurisdiction over Claims

MINNEAPOLIS –– A Minnesota federal court has dismissed an asbestos action against Conwed without prejudice after finding that it did not have personal jurisdiction over the defendant, which is currently not authorized to do business in the state.

In the Oct. 10 opinion, the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota opined that with no party to the case being a Minnesota citizen, it is “unlikely that Minnesota would have a clear interest in providing a forum for this action.”
