R.I. Court Refuses to Preclude Testimony of Dr. Michael Graham in Asbestos Case

PROVIDENCE, R.I. –– A Rhode Island trial court has declined to preclude the testimony of asbestos defense expert Dr. Michael Graham, finding him “sufficiently qualified and skilled in order to testify on issues of causation.”

In the June 9 opinion, the Rhode Island Superior Court explained that an expert witness does not have to have a license in a narrow specialty, as long “as the expert can deliver a helpful opinion to the fact-finder.”

The underlying claims were asserted on behalf of Douglas A. Sweredoski, who was allegedly diagnosed with malignant mesothelioma as a result of exposure to asbestos-containing products …
