EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. –– An Illinois jury has reached a defense verdict for Hennessy Industries Inc. at the conclusion of an asbestos trial, rejecting the plaintiffs’ claims that a former automotive shop instructor was exposed to asbestos fibers as a result of using the defendant’s brake arcing machine.

The Illinois 3rd Judicial Circuit Court for Madison County jury reached the verdict on Feb. 28 after a three-week trial and less than three hours of deliberations. Judge Stephen A. Stobbs presided over the trial, sources told HarrisMartin.

Hennessy was the lone remaining defendant at the time of the verdict, sources added.
