SAN FRANCISCO –– A California jury has found for defendant John Crane at the conclusion of an asbestos trial during which the plaintiff alleged that he was exposed to asbestos-containing valves and pump packing during his nearly 20 years serving in the U.S. Navy.

The California Superior Court for San Francisco County jury reached the verdict on Oct. 13. Hon. Richard B. Ulmer presided over the three-week trial.

Plaintiff James Angus argued during trial that he developed asbestos-related lung cancer and asbestosis while serving in the U.S. Navy for 19 years as a boiler tender aboard a number of ships.
