Wash. Court Grants Asbestos Plaintiff’s Motion to Transfer Venue to California

SEATTLE –– A Washington federal court has granted an asbestos plaintiff’s motion to transfer her claims to the Southern District of California, noting that all the parties agree that California is the preferable forum for this lawsuit.

In the June 13 order, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington declined to articulate its conclusions of the nine factors prescribed under Section 1404, saying “each of those factors is either neutral or favors transfer.”

Plaintiff Sarah Griffin filed the claims, contending that she developed mesothelioma as a result of secondhand exposure to asbestos. Griffin said in particular that …
