Maine Supreme Court Affirms Summary Judgment Awards for 4 Asbestos Defendants, Says Evidence Doesn’t Rise Above Speculation

PORTLAND, Maine –– Maine’s highest court has affirmed summary judgment awards entered in favor of four asbestos defendants, opining that the evidence regarding causation in the case “does not rise above speculation.”

In the June 10 opinion, the Maine Supreme Judicial Court further held that a fact-finder would not be able to reasonably conclude that the decedent inhaled asbestos fibers from the defendants’ products.
