Philadelphia Jurors Return $6.4 Million Verdict in Asbestos Lung Cancer Case




PHILADELPHIA — A Pennsylvania jury awarded more than $6.4 million in a case brought by a former carpenter who claimed he developed lung cancer as a result of his exposure to asbestos while working for Philadelphia Electric Company.

The Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas jury returned the verdict on April 13, finding defendants John Crane Inc. and Brand Insulations Inc. liable for plaintiff William Roverano’s alleged injuries. The jury also awarded loss of consortium damages to Roverano’s wife, Jacqueline.

In all, William Roverano was awarded $5,189, 265.14, while Jacqueline Roverano was awarded $1.25 million. In accordance with the jury’s liability …
